BEDBUG PREPARATIONS

Thank you for considering our company to help solve your bedbug infestation. Bedbug treatments will only be successful with your participation. We are providing this preparation sheet for your convenience. It may be necessary for one of our technicians to do a walk-through prior to the application visit to go over what needs to be done. If you are not able to have your property ready for our scheduled visit you should contact our office prior to your appointment time to discuss rescheduling for a time when you can be prepared.
Failure to fully participate may result in the remainder of your treatments being voided and your balance will still be due in full. We can not be successful without your participation. These steps will need to be repeated prior to EACH application. Our standard program involves three applications in a thirty day period with follow-up inspections. More severe infestations may require more applications and additional steps added to the preparation sheet. Feel free to contact our office with any additional questions you may have at 405-372-4934 or 918-225-0627. We look forward to working with you.

BEDROOMS

This is the area of primary concern. Bedbugs hang out close to their food source, so your bed, dresser, nightstands, and clothes are all potential hiding places
Sweep or vacuum the floors, paying special attention to corners and baseboards.
Strip your bed, putting the linens and pillows in a plastic bag.
Separate the mattress from the box spring and vacuum them, paying special attention to crevices, then lean them against a wall.
Clear away all knick-knacks. Wipe down anything that’s not soft material and store it in a plastic bag or bin; anything that is soft goes into a plastic bag.
Empty all closets and dressers, putting everything into a plastic bag.
Remove drawers from dressers and nightstands and pile them in the middle of the room.
Take down all curtains and window coverings, putting them into a plastic bag.
Wipe down electronics and store whatever possible in plastic bags or bins.
Move all furniture at least a foot away from the walls.

LIVING ROOMS

This is a secondary area, but it should be cleared for maximum effect. We will spray this area, so you want to protect your things there.
Sweep or vacuum the floors, including corners and baseboards.
Remove pillows from chairs and couches, putting them in a plastic bag.
Vacuum all soft furniture, including cushions.
Clear away all knick-knacks. Wipe down anything that’s not soft material and store it in a plastic bag or bin; anything that is soft goes into a plastic bag.
Empty all closets and drawers, putting everything into a plastic bag.
Remove drawers from furniture and pile them in the middle of the room.
Take down all curtains and window coverings, putting them into a plastic bag.
Wipe down electronics and store whatever possible in plastic bags or bins.
Move all furniture at least a foot away from the walls.

CLOTHING/LINENS

All of your clothing, linens, pillows, and soft material should be in plastic bags. This prevents any bugs riding in the clothes from dropping into other areas while they’re being transported.
Clothes and linens should be washed in hot water, then put through the dryer on the hottest setting for at least 20 minutes.
Dry-clean only clothing, pillows, and all other soft material should be just put through the dryer on the hottest setting for at least 20 minutes.
If you’re using a home dryer, 20 minutes will do it. If you’re at a laundry-mat, you’ll need to process them for 45 minutes because the dryers don’t get hot enough, fast enough.
Once the processing is done, set aside a week’s worth of clothing and store the rest in new, clean plastic bags or bins.
The clothing to be worn should be stored in a plastic bin during the course of all treatments for best results.

BOOKS

This can be the most time-consuming part of preparing. Paper is a favorite place for bedbugs after beds and dressers, so books, magazines, and other stacks of paper should be dealt with.
Remove one object at a time from their shelves.
Wipe down the cover and spine.
Carefully inspect the inside of object, looking at each page, particularly at the juncture with the spine.
Check the space between the book and cover on the spine of hardbacks.
If no bugs are found, place the object in a plastic bag or bin.
If bugs are found, place in a separate plastic bag to be thrown out.
Repeat for every book, magazine, or stack of paper in the infested area.

THROWING THINGS AWAY

If you find that you don’t want to or can’t keep any furniture, knick-knacks, clothing, books, or anything else, don’t just pitch them in the trash. The risk of transferring the infestation to a new home is super high, which means you could get them again indirectly. If you throw something out, make sure to destroy it (slash cushions, smash wood, break plastic) and wrap it in plastic. This will deter dumpster-divers from taking bug-filled objects.

FLEA PROCEDURES

Fleas can be difficult to control without teamwork.

We have prepared this checklist of things the customer needs to do to help the process be successful.

We have found that when the customer follows these guidelines the treatments are more effective and control is achieved more quickly.

Please review this checklist and complete it in the order indicated.
